President Murmu Unveils Statue of BR Ambedkar in SC to Mark Constitution Day

On Sunday, President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated a statue of Dr. B R Ambedkar within the premises of the Supreme Court, marking the celebration of Constitution Day. The ceremony witnessed Chief Justice of India, D Y Chandrachud, and Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal paying their respects to the architect of the Indian Constitution. Both dignitaries expressed their homage by folding their hands and offering floral tributes to the towering 7-feet tall sculpture.

The statue unveiling ceremony was further adorned with a symbolic gesture of environmental responsibility as President Murmu and CJI Chandrachud planted saplings following the inauguration.

Constitution Day is observed annually on November 26 since 2015, commemorating the historic moment when the Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution of India in 1949. This day was previously known as Law Day. The event serves as a reminder of the significance of the Indian Constitution in shaping the nation’s democratic fabric.

The ceremony at the Supreme Court premises not only honored the pivotal role of Dr. B R Ambedkar but also symbolized a commitment to environmental sustainability through the planting of saplings. The participation of top government and judicial officials underscored the collective acknowledgment of the constitutional values that continue to guide the nation.
