Prime Minister leads yoga session in Srinagar on the occasion of 10th International Yoga Day

On International Yoga Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated crores of people in the country and the world and said that the number of people doing yoga is continuously increasing.

Prime Minister leads yoga session in Srinagar on the occasion of 10th International Yoga Day

Srinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi did yoga on International Yoga Day on the banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. On this, PM Modi said that today the number of people doing yoga is continuously increasing all over the world. People’s attraction towards yoga is increasing. Today from the land of Kashmir, I congratulate all the people around the world on International Yoga Day.

Ten years ago I had proposed celebrating International Yoga Day in the United Nations. India’s proposal was supported by 177 countries, which is a record in itself. In 2015, 35,000 people did yoga together on Delhi’s Dattapath.

PM Narendra Modi said that this year in India, a 101-year-old female yoga teacher from France was honored with Padma Shri. She never came to India but has dedicated her entire life to propagating yoga. Today, research on Yoga is being conducted in prestigious universities and institutes around the world to create awareness about Yoga.

Increased attraction among people towards yoga

While participating in yoga practice at Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Center (SKICC) in Srinagar, the Prime Minister said that the attraction towards yoga has developed throughout Jammu and Kashmir, the zeal and enthusiasm with which people are coming to join yoga. Are eager, this has become an opportunity to give a new strength to the tourism of Jammu and Kashmir.

PM Modi said that on the occasion of the 10th International Yoga Day, I urge everyone to make yoga a part of their daily life. The Prime Minister said that from Rishikesh and Kashi to Kerala, we can see a new trend of yoga tourism emerging in India. People from all over the world are coming to India to learn authentic yoga. Sectors related to tourism, apparel etc. are booming with huge influx of people. This is creating new employment opportunities for the youth.

Yoga becomes medical subject in Turkmenistan’s university

The PM said that in the year 2015, I inaugurated a yoga center in Turkmenistan. Today yoga activities are flourishing there. Yoga therapy is included as a subject at the State Medical University of Turkmenistan
