Indore: With the release of ‘Pathaan’ Shah Rukh Khan returned to the silver screen after a long absence of four years. King Khan’s fans all over the country marched towards the theatres to watch the early morning showing of the film.
In fact, under the influence of local political groups, a few shows of Pathaan did not screen in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on Wednesday, as per the news agency PTI.
Before the release of Pathaan, it faced severe protests due to its controversial song, Besharam Rang. People of all walks of life, including political and religious leaders, condemned the song and film. They believed that it hurt their religious sentiments.
Several activists of the Hindu Jagran Manch carrying saffron flags protested at Indore’s Sapna-Sangeeta cinema hall with the film released on Wednesday. Some eyewitnesses said that numerous people entered the theatre premises and urged the audience to leave the theatre because they would not allow the movie to be screened.
Meanwhile, Bajrang Dal activists raised their voices at the Kastur cinema hall in the city in protest against Pathaan’s screening. Reportedly, they chanted slogans against Shah Rukh Khan. After that, police were deployed in both theaters.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Dishesh Agrawal is quoted as saying, “Activists of the Hindu Jagran Manch and Bajrang Dal have been protesting against the film Pathaan.” Therefore, a few of its morning shows were not screened.” Regarding the further showings of Pathaan, he said that some appropriate decisions must be taken soon as per the law and order situation.
Of late, PM Narendra Modi warned BJP party workers not to make unnecessary remarks on movies while he was speaking during the party’s recent meeting. But he did not mention the name of any film in particular.
