Harjinder Kaur won the bronze medal by lifting a total of 212 kg. He won this medal in the 71 kg category. At the same time, this is the 9th medal for India in the Commonwealth Games 2022. However, India’s weightlifter Harjinder Kaur got this bronze medal due to luck.

In fact, she was fourth after finishing her attempts in clean and jerk, but Joy of Nigeria could not lift in all three of her attempts in clean and jerk. In this way Harjinder got the bronze medal.

Snatch: Harjinder gave her name for 90kg in the first attempt. She could not lift this weight. She lifted 90 kg in the second attempt and 93 kg in the third. 93kg is also his personal best. In this way, her score in the snatch round was 93 kg.

Clean and Jerk: All three of Harjinder’s attempts in this round were successful. She lifted 113 kg in the first attempt, 116 kg in the second and 119 kg in the third attempt. In this way, his score in the clean and jerk round was 119 kg.

Harjinder lifted a total of 212 kg after the snatch and clean and jerk rounds. After that it seemed that she would not be able to win bronze. Next to him was Alexis Ashworth. She lifted 214 kg. Then Nigeria’s Joe Ogbonne and England’s Sarah Davis were to arrive. There was a competition for the gold medal between the two, but the game turned around here.

Nigeria’s Jo Ogbone lifted 100kg in the snatch round. He gave his name for 125kg in clean and jerk. She failed to lift this weight in all three attempts. In this way Harjinder’s medal was confirmed.

Now it was Sarah Davis’ turn. Had she failed in all three attempts, Harjinder would have got silver, but it did not happen. Sara’s first attempt was unsuccessful, but in the second she lifted 126 kg to make her total score 229 kg. In this way she won the gold.

In the last edition of the Commonwealth Games, Indian weightlifters had won nine medals, including five gold. Then Team India was the best team in weightlifting. At the same time, this time India has got seven medals including three gold in weightlifting in Birmingham Commonwealth Games. India tops the medal tally in weightlifting at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Now it remains to be seen whether India can break the 2018 Commonwealth Games record or not.
