Punjab School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains expressed grief over the incident and said that an inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
Rupnagar: Three children died after being hit by a passenger train on Sunday near Shri Kiratpur Sahib in Rupnagar district of Punjab. The police have also confirmed this incident. The Punjab government has ordered an inquiry into the incident. Giving information, the police said that the incident took place when four children of migrant laborers were playing near the railway track near the bridge over the Sutlej river. The police also said that a fourth child was injured in the incident and has been admitted to the hospital.
Police said that the children are between seven and 11 years old. Punjab School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains expressed grief over the incident and said that an inquiry has been ordered into the incident. Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said in a tweet, “In a very sad incident, three children lost their lives in a train accident in Kiratpur Sahib. An inquiry has been ordered. My condolences are with the bereaved families.
Former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh demanded compensation to the affected families. Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal has also expressed grief over the incident. Congress Punjab unit chief Amarinder Singh Raja Wading tweeted, “Shocked and distressed at the tragic death of three children after being run over by a train near Kiratpur Sahib today. My deepest condolences to the parents of the children.
“Distraught to hear about the news of a passenger train crushing 4 children causing 3 of them to die on the spot near Sri Kiratpur Sahib today. My condolences are with the family and I urge @PunjabGovtIndia to provide appropriate compensation to the families,” said Mr Singh in a tweet.
Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal also expressed grief over the incident.
“Saddened to hear that 3 kids lost their life in a tragic incident near Kiratpur Sahib where a train crushed them to death when they were crossing a railway track. I pray to Gurusahab to grant peace to the innocent souls and strength to the families to bear this irreparable loss,” said Mr Badal in a tweet.
Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring tweeted, “Shocked and grieved beyond expression over the tragic death of three children near Kiratpur Sahib who were run over by a train today. My profound condolences to the parents.”
