Punjab: Two accused in Ludhiana businessman kidnapping case killed in police encounter

Ludhiana: A police official said that two of the accused named in the Ludhiana businessman kidnapping case were dead during an encounter that took place in Ludhiana of Punjab. Ludhiana Police Commissioner Kuldeep Chahal said they were wanted in the Sambhav Jain kidnapping case.

Punjab: Two accused in Ludhiana businessman kidnapping case killed in police encounter

Ludhiana: A police official said that two of the accused named in the Ludhiana businessman kidnapping case were dead during an encounter that happened in Ludhiana of Punjab. Ludhiana Police Commissioner Kuldeep Chahal said they were wanted in the Sambhav Jain kidnapping case.

The police added that meanwhile, a special sub-inspector sustained injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. The gangsters have been identified as Sanjeev alias Sanju Brahmin and Shubham alias Gopi.

The encounter took place on Tibba road in Ludhiana at 5.50 pm, Chahal said, adding that the gangsters fired the first shot at the police. Kuldeep Singh Chahal, Police Commissioner, Ludhiana said, “A total of seven accused have been named in the businessman abduction case, out of whom five were arrested earlier and two of them were on the run. While chasing the accused, several rounds of fire were exchanged between the former and a team of police.”

The police commssioner said,”The deceased accused were identified as Sanjeev Kumar and Shubham Gopi. Other accused, namely Jatin, Premjit, Mantosh Kumar, Aditya Sharma and Mandeep Kumar, have been taken into custody.”

The police earlier recovered the businessman’s car that was looted in the incident, he further said. On receiving specific information, the police chased the two gangsters. Both of them were shot dead in the exchange of fire near Tibba bridge, he said. One Assistant Sub Inspector of police, Sukhjit Singh, was also injured and was rushed to a hospital here, he said.
