New Delhi: A heart-wrenching news has come out from Amritsar, Punjab. In a mobile shop here, a police officer inadvertently opened fire from his government pistol. The bullet hit a young man working in the shop. After which everyone was stunned. The injured were rushed to the hospital. where his condition remains critical.
After this incident, there was a stir in the whole area. Because the bullet was fired from the official pistol of the police officer and during which the bullet was fired, the police officer was on duty and was in Punjab Police uniform. A 49-second CCTV footage shows a police officer placing his government pistol on the counter of a mobile shop and showing it to someone by repeatedly touching it. ACP Varinder Singh, North Region, Amritsar, said that necessary action has been taken on the statements of witnesses and family members present on the spot. The police officer has been suspended. The ACP said that the condition of the youth who was shot is critical.
A similar incident took place in Jammu and Kashmir earlier this month in which a civilian was killed after a bullet fired from a policeman’s rifle. Officials said the victim, identified as Mohammad Asif Padru, was immediately rushed to the hospital by the police, but died there. The accused policeman has been arrested after a case was registered in connection with the incident.
