Rahul Gandhi, accompanied by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Congress state in-charge Kumari Selja, and state unit chief Dipak Baij, embarked on a journey via the Bilaspur-Itwari Intercity train from Bilaspur. They opted for a sleeper coach during the ride.
“Observe the smiles on these faces; today, Jannayak Rahul Gandhi Ji made these sisters’ journey special… This is the distinction between a ‘Jan Neta’ and an ‘Abhineta,'” Chhattisgarh Congress shared on their official platform.
Rahul Gandhi is affectionately referred to as Jannayak or Jan Neta, signifying a leader of the people, by the Congress.
During the journey, Rahul Gandhi engaged in a conversation with a young girl who identified herself as a hockey player. They discussed the deteriorating condition of the astroturf hockey ground in Rajnandgaon, and she expressed the need for a new turf. Several other girl players accompanied her.
Gandhi also inquired about the training and facilities available at the Khelo India Centre in Rajnandgaon, as relayed by one of the adults accompanying the players.
The ruling Congress asserted that the railway ministry had canceled 2,600 trains in the state in recent months, causing significant hardships to the people. Chief Minister Baghel had previously written to the railway ministry about this issue.
Earlier in the day, in Bilaspur district, Rahul Gandhi launched the ‘Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Nyay Yojana’ (MGANY) and criticized the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre regarding the census issue.
Gandhi highlighted that the Congress government’s ‘Gramin Awas Nyay Yojna (GANY)’ aims to provide financial aid to the homeless and families residing in kutcha houses in rural areas.
In Raipur, Rahul Gandhi presided over a meeting to discuss poll preparations in the state, with CM Baghel, Deputy CM TS Singhdeo, and other party leaders in attendance.
The Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly election is slated for November, where all 90 members will be elected.
