London: India is witnessing an attack on the institutions that built the country, which is now occupied by the Deep State, Rahul Gandhi said Friday at the Ideas for India conference at Cambridge University in London. He was joined by leaders of the opposition, including Sitaram Yechury, Salman Khurshid, Tejashwi Yadav, Mahua Moitra, and Manoj Jha, among others.
I don’t view Congress as a big daddy. “Congress, in no way, is superior to other opposition parties,” said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at the Ideas for India conference at Cambridge University in London.
This came after a remark he made during Chintan Shivir in Udaipur recently. He had said that the Congress alone could fight the BJP as regional parties neither have an ideology nor a centralised approach. His statement upset many parties in the opposition.
As his party continues to struggle with infighting, rebellion, defections, and election losses, Rahul Gandhi said, “The Congress is fighting to regain India.” It’s an ideological battle now-a national ideological battle. A soul without a voice means nothing. India’s voice has been crushed. “The deep state is chewing the Indian state, much like what happened in Pakistan,” he said.
“We believe India is its people. But the BJP and the RSS believe it is geography. We are not just fighting the BJP; it’s no longer a pure political fight. “The BJP has 100 per cent control of the media,” Gandhi said in conversation with author Ashis Ray.
He added, “We are not just fighting the BJP. We are now fighting the institutional structure of the Indian state, which has been captured by an organization. “
The Congress leader further added, “We will not be able to match the funds they have.” We will have to think of large-scale mass movements on issues like price rises and unemployment.
