Rahul Gandhi’s European Tour: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi commenced a nearly week-long journey to Europe on Tuesday. During this trip, he has plans to engage with European Union lawyers, students, and Indian expatriates. According to sources, Gandhi is scheduled to meet a group of EU lawyers in Brussels on September 7, and a similar meeting is on the agenda for The Hague. Furthermore, on September 8, he is slated to address students at a university in Paris. September 9 will see his participation in a meeting with a labor organization in Paris. Subsequently, he will proceed to Norway, where he will speak at an event for Indian expatriates in Oslo on September 10.
It’s expected that Gandhi will return by September 11, just after the conclusion of the G20 summit. The G20 Leaders Summit is scheduled from September 9 to 10 in Delhi.
India is hosting the G20 summit as the current president of the group, and it is anticipated to be attended by over 30 heads of state, high-ranking officials from the European Union and invited guest countries, along with 14 heads of international organizations.
Not Partaking in G20 Summit:
In an interesting note, Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra is celebrating its first anniversary with foot marches from 722 locations across the country on September 7, covering all districts. However, Rahul Gandhi himself will not be present at these events. Instead, during the anniversary of the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra,’ he will be on a five-day tour of Europe.
Engaging with the Indian Diaspora:
During his journey, Rahul will also visit the Netherlands, where he will interact with students from three universities at Leiden University in The Hague. Furthermore, in Norway, he is scheduled to meet with the Foreign Minister and the Leader of the Opposition, former Prime Minister Erna Solberg. He will also hold meetings with Members of Parliament and business leaders. Rahul Gandhi plans to engage with the Indian expatriate community in all these countries during his visit.
