New Delhi: Veteran Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav at the AIIMS in Delhi on Friday to inquire about his health. Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by AICC general secretary KC Venugopal.
The condition of Lalu Prasad has been gradually improving and he is expected to be shifted from the Critical Care Unit to a room in a couple of days.
The Congress has an alliance with the RJD in Bihar. Lalu was the Railway Minister in 2004 in the UPA government when Manmohan Singh was the prime minister of the country.
Lalu Yadav, 74, fell from the stairs at his wife’s residence in Patna, fractured his right shoulder and was admitted at Paras Hospital in Patna. He was brought to Delhi by an air ambulance two days ago. He has been suffering from several health issues, including renal and cardiac problems, besides diabetes.
Lalu is on bail after being charged in the fodder scam.
While Lalu was admitted to a Patna hospital, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited him at the hospital to find out about his health. Nitish also announced that the state government would bear his medical expenses.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday talked to Lalu’s younger son, Tejashwi Yadav, and inquired about his father’s health.
