New Delhi: In protest against the disqualification of former Congress President Rahul Gandhi from the membership of the Lok Sabha, party leaders and workers are performing a one-day Satyagraha in front of the statues of Mahatma Gandhi today. According to the party, this ‘Sankalp Satyagraha’ is being held in front of the statues of Mahatma Gandhi in all the states and districts in solidarity with Rahul Gandhi. It will start from 10 in the morning till 5 in the evening.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and several other Congress leaders will participate in ‘Sankalp Satyagraha’ to be held at Rajghat in Delhi.

Rahul Gandhi, representing Kerala’s Wayanad parliamentary seat, was on Friday disqualified from the Lok Sabha in the wake of his being sentenced to two years in prison by a Surat court in a 2019 defamation case. In the notification issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, it has been said that his disqualification order will be effective from March 23 itself.

It is notable that a court in Surat had given this decision regarding the remark regarding ‘Modi surname’.

Rahul Gandhi has claimed that he was disqualified from the Lok Sabha because Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scared that his speech was going to happen in Parliament.

In a letter sent to all the state units, the party’s organization general secretary KC Venugopal said, “Rahul Gandhi is not alone in this fight for justice, lakhs of Congressmen and crores of people are standing with him. We support our leader and his fearless fight for satyagraha.” do.”
