Railways to upgrade remaining stations under ‘Adarsh Station Scheme’ by 2024.

Railway station upgrading under the Adarsh Station scheme will be upgraded in the Financial Year 2023-24.

Railways to upgrade remaining stations under ‘Adarsh Station Scheme’ by 2024.

New Delhi:As many as 1,253 railway stations identified for upgradation under the ‘Adarsh Station’ scheme will be upgraded in the financial year 2023-24, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told the Rajya Sabha on Friday. The minister further informed that all 40 stations in Rajasthan, 16 stations in Haryana, 45 stations in Madhya Pradesh and 32 stations in Gujarat were identified for upgradation under the Adarsh Station Scheme.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav informed the Upper House that, various works for improvement, upgradation, modernization of passenger amenities which inter alia include improvement of station building façade, retiring rooms, waiting rooms, separate waiting rooms for ladies, circulating Landscaping of the area, marked parking, signage, payment included. Under the Adarsh Station Scheme, toilets, foot over bridges, ramps at the entrance of the station, etc. are being built at railway stations.
Augmentation and upgradation of passenger amenities at railway stations is a continuous process subject to availability of funds, volume of passenger traffic and inter-se priority of works.
