Rajasthan: 4 Australian tourists test Covid positive, India sees 618 fresh infections

Jaipur: Four foreign tourists, including a woman visiting Rajasthan from Australia, tested positive for CVOVID-19 infection, officials said on Thursday. India reported 618 fresh Covid-19 cases and five deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the data shared by the Union health ministry.

Jaipur: Four foreign tourists, including a woman visiting Rajasthan from Australia, tested positive for CVOVID-19 infection, officials said on Thursday. India reported 618 fresh Covid-19 cases and five deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the data shared by the Union health ministry.

Rajasthan University for Health Sciences (RUHS) Vice Chancellor Dr. Sudhir Bhandari said, “Australian Sawai was staying at a hotel in Madhopur, and was brought to Jaipur, where he tested positive for Covid-19 infection. He has been admitted to RUHS Hospital and was admitted on Wednesday night”.

RUHS VC Dr Sudhir Bhandair said, “The condition of three tourists is normal, while the fourth has cold.” Recently several states in India are recording a rise in cases of COVID-19. India has been recording a staggering rise in daily cases over the past few weeks, with the death toll also rapidly increasing. The active cases in the country increased to 4,197 while the death toll climbed to 5,30,789. The national Covid-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.80 per cent.

Earlier on Saturday, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan wrote a letter to the states and union territories. Bhushan said that the gradual increase in the Covid-19 test positivity rate in some states is a worrying issue that needs immediate attention.

“Despite lower number of new cases, similar number of hospitalizations and significant progress in terms of COVID-19 vaccination coverage, there is still a need to remain vigilant and focus on the five-fold strategy of Test-Track-Treat- Vaccination and adherence to COVID appropriate behaviour,” Bhushan said in his letter.

According to a press release shared by the Gujarat Information Department on Wednesday As per, a total of 90 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Gujarat on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh recorded 28 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, the Department of Health and Family Welfare said on Wednesday.
