He praised the film’s actor-director, Rishab Shetty, for his role in making such a remarkable film. Kantara has received universal acceptance since its release last month. At present, it is the highest-rated Indian film on IMDb.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, Rajinikanth wrote, “‘The unknown is more than the known.’ No one could have said this better in cinema than @hombalefilms. #KantaraMovie you gave me goosebumps.” The veteran actor then tagged Rishab Shetty and praised his work as well. “@shetty_rishab Rishab, hats off to you as a writer, director, and actor. Congrats to the whole cast and crew of this masterpiece in Indian cinema,” added Rajinikanth.

Kantara is a Kannada movie that combines indigenous faith and beliefs centred on Daivas and Guligas with concerns like man vs. nature and land disputes in coastal Karnataka (regional demigods). Both critically and financially successful, the movie has received praise from audiences. It is only the third Kannada movie to ever surpass the 200-crore milestone at the international box office as of Wednesday.

Due to its popularity in Kannada, the film’s creators decided to release dubbed versions of it in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. The Hindi and Telugu versions of these are doing well, with over $25 crore each in just over 10 days.

The movie also earned the eighth-highest box office revenue in India in 2022, just behind KGF Chapter 2, RRR, Ponniyin Selvan I, Brahmastra, Vikram, The Kashmir Files, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and ahead of Gangubai Kathiawadi and Valimai. Trade analysts are predicting it to rise further on the list.
