In a significant development, two key suspects in the brutal murder of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena Chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi have been apprehended. The shooters, Rohit Rathore and Nitin Fauji, were successfully arrested in a joint operation conducted by Delhi and Rajasthan police in Chandigarh.
The late-night operation, executed yesterday, also led to the arrest of a third accomplice, Udham Singh. This comes as the fourth arrest in connection to the shocking murder case.
The arrest follows the apprehension of Ramveer Jat, accused of aiding Rohit and Nitin in escaping the crime scene on his motorcycle, dropping them off at Ajmer Road. The assailants had fatally shot Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi at his Jaipur residence, having tea with him before the attack.
Rohit Rathore and Nitin Fauji, previously on the run, were traced through mobile phones, revealing their recent whereabouts. They disclosed to the police their escape route, involving a train to Hisar and subsequently traveling to Manali with Udham Singh. The trio also stayed briefly in Mandi before being captured in Chandigarh.
The mastermind behind the murder, gangster Rohit Godara, associated with Goldie Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi, claimed responsibility. The shooters remained in contact with Godara’s aide, Virendra Chauhan, after the crime, and their locations were tracked through mobile surveillance.
The sensational murder, captured on CCTV, triggered widespread protests in Rajasthan, coinciding with political changes after the BJP’s victory in the recent assembly elections. Authorities, offering a reward of ₹5 lakh for information leading to their arrest, had formed multiple teams to locate the shooters.
