A Ministry of Home Affairs spokesperson said the government is closely monitoring the situation and has offered assistance of paramilitary forces in the light of reports of continuing violence and tension in some districts of the state.

Ram Navami celebrations in the state have this year witnessed unprecedented violence leading to the death of at least three people. Home Minister Rajnath Singh is closely watching the situation and has instructed officials to assist the state in all possible ways to control the situation.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has put the blame on Hindutva outfits, including the BJP, for the violence, saying the state has never seen Ram Navami marches carrying arms.
