Mumbai: The title character of Swatantra Veer Savarkar will be played by Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda. The latest information is that he will not only be acting in the film, but directing the film as well. He has previously disclosed that he had lost 18 kg for his upcoming movie. The actor will be playing the role of freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar in the biopic.
According to a report on PeepingMoon.com, Mahesh Manjrekar, who was supposed to direct Swantantra Veer Savarkar, has reportedly dropped out of the project. The Swatantra Veer Savarkar shoot will get underway in Maharashtra next week.
Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was born on May 28, 1883, at Bhagur village in the Nashik district in Maharashtra. He was a prominent figure in the Hindu Mahasabha, a politician, activist, and writer who developed the Hindu nationalist political ideology of Hindutva. Veer Savarkar breathed his last on February 26, 1966, in Bombay.
