Ranjit Rath takes charge as Chairman and MD of Oil India Limited

New Delhi: Oil India Limited (OIL) has appointed Mr Ranjit Rath, a man with more than 25 years of experience in geosciences, as the new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). He took charge of the organisation on August 2.

Oil India Limited (OIL) is the second-largest public sector exploration and production firm. It is a navratna PSU and comes under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

Ranjit Rath is an alumnus of IIT Bombay and IIT Kharagpur. Before joining Oil India Limited, he previously held the position of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Mineral Exploration & Consultancy Limited, a company that is affiliated with the Ministry of Mines.

In addition, he held the positions of MD of Bharat Gold Mines Limited and CEO of Khani Bidesh India Limited. He was also in charge of the Geological Survey of India as its Director General (DG).

Rath received the prestigious “National Geosciences Award” from the President of India in 2016. He is a writer and has co-authored publications like “Underground Storage Technologies.”
