RBI Governor Shakikanta Das: Reserve Bank of India Chief Shaktikanta Das has received the ‘Governor of the Year’ award. Central Banking has awarded him this award. Earlier, he has also got service extension on the post of RBI Governor. He has been given extension as RBI governor for the second time in a row.
Shaktikanta Das was made the new governor after former RBI governor Urjit Patel. During his tenure with challenges like Corona epidemic, Russia-Ukraine war and economic slowdown, he has handled the country from these situations.
During the tenure of Shaktikanta Das, UPI payment has expanded tremendously in the country. India has come to the leadership position in the matter of digital payments. Shaktikanta has been extremely against cryptocurrencies. Recently RBI has launched Central Bank Digital Currency under his leadership.
During the Corona epidemic, the RBI had cut the benchmark lending rates from saving the economy from the crisis to giving it a boost.
