Brazilian influencer and reality TV star Luana Andrade, aged 29, tragically passed away following complications arising from a liposuction surgery performed at São Luiz Hospital in São Paulo on Monday. Accompanied by her family, Andrade experienced a sudden respiratory event and cardiac arrest during the procedure, prompting immediate medical intervention. Despite revival attempts, she was diagnosed with a massive thrombosis—a condition involving blood clot formation in the veins.
Transferred to the intensive care unit, Andrade received medical and hemodynamic treatment. Unfortunately, her condition deteriorated, and she succumbed to a massive pulmonary embolism—a complication of thrombosis that obstructs an artery in the lung. A statement from the hospital confirmed her passing on Tuesday morning around 5:30 a.m.
A prominent figure on social media with 558,000 Instagram followers, Andrade also participated in the sixth season of the Brazilian reality show “Power Couple” alongside her boyfriend, João Hadad. Hadad, who shared a two-year relationship with Andrade, expressed profound grief on Instagram, posting a poignant black and white photo of them in Paris. In his tribute, he said, “A piece of me is gone,” and conveyed his difficulty in comprehending the loss.
Andrade’s funeral took place at the Valle dos Reis Cemetery in São Paulo on Wednesday, marking the somber farewell to a beloved social media personality.
