New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its daily bulletin that heavy rains and strong winds will prevail over many parts of the country for the next three days.

According to the Meteorological Department, light to heavy rain with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds are expected in central India for the next few days. There is a possibility of hailstorm in West Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.According to IMD, heavy winds along with snowfall, hailstorm, lightning are likely in Western Himalayan region.

Light and heavy rain may also occur during this time. The department has warned of hailstorm in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan. Shimla witnessed heavy rains on Sunday, reducing visibility and disrupting normal traffic.

Rajasthan Thunderstorm-rain activities in Rajasthan are expected to continue for the next week. Jaipur Weather Center in-charge Radheshyam Sharma said that due to the Western Disturbance, thunderstorms are likely to continue for the next week. He said that another new Western Disturbance is expected to become active from May 2 and bring rain again.

Meanwhile, most areas of the state have recorded light to moderate rainfall in the last 24 hours. Jaisalmer recorded the highest rainfall of six centimeters.
