Cyclone ‘Remal’ wreaks havoc in North-Eastern states: Cyclone ‘Remal’, which emerged from the heights of Bengal, reached Canning in West Bengal and Mongla in Bangladesh at 8.30 pm on Sunday night with a speed of 135 kilometers per hour. Landfall lasted for 4 hours. At the same time, after landfall in West Bengal, Remal caused severe devastation. But this cyclonic storm continues to wreak havoc in the northeastern states also. ‘Remal’ Causes Massive Devastation in Northeastern States


According to media reports, four people, including a woman, died in separate incidents on Tuesday due to heavy rains along with strong winds after cyclone ‘Remal’ in Assam. State CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Nagaon, Hojai, West Karbi Anglong, Golaghat, Dima Hasao, Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj will experience heavy rains with winds reaching 40-50 kilometers per hour. Bad weather is likely to continue. On the other hand, due to heavy rains in Meghalaya, two people have died and more than 500 people have been injured.

Tripura Transport Minister Sushant Chaudhary said that the cyclone has caused huge devastation in the power and agriculture sectors, due to which a total loss of more than Rs 10 crore is estimated. He said many low-lying areas were flooded, rendering 746 people homeless, who had to take shelter in 15 relief camps. However, no human casualties were reported due to the cyclonic storm in the state. At the same time, four people died in Nagaland, while more than 40 houses were damaged.

A stone mine collapsed on Tuesday in a landslide caused by incessant rains in Mizoram due to Cyclone ‘Remal’. 14 people died in this accident, while many people are reported missing. Mizoram State Disaster Management Authority (MSDMA) said 14 people, including two minors, were killed in a stone quarry collapse in Aizawl district. About eight other people went missing.
