Chennai: French automaker Renault has released a teaser image of a hydrogen-powered concept car, which will mark its global debut in May 2022. Renault is experimenting with hydrogen cars for the first time to reduce carbon emissions.
The teaser image unveils the front look of the hydrogen concept car, depicting sharp outlines and LED headlamps. In terms of design, the upcoming Renault car resembles the Megane EV. Also, the hydrogen-powered concept car is likely to be the same size as the Megane EV.
The company says that the concept car will feature a hydrogen engine, and it embodies ‘the decarbonization trajectory of the group and the progress of circular economy, recycled and recyclable materials’. The company also says that the concept has been designed under the direction of the new design chief Gilles Vidal, Renault Design Director. This concept car is part of the company’s recently announced objective of achieving a 100 per cent electric energy mix by 2030.
The car will have LED headlights and alloy wheels
The upcoming Renault concept will have a sculpted hood, narrow LED headlamps, an illuminated logo of the brand, a prominent front splitter, and large DRLs.
On the sides, it will be flanked by B-pillars, cameras in place of ORVMs, and possibly alloy wheels.
A roof-mounted antenna, a window wiper, and taillamps should be available on the rear end of the crossover.
It will be fueled by a hydrogen-guzzling ICE
The 2022 Renault concept will be powered by an internal combustion engine (ICE) that will run on hydrogen in place of petrol or diesel. However, the specifications and power figures are currently unavailable.
The crossover should get wireless charging and multiple airbags
The Renault concept is tipped to have a luxurious cabin with key-less entry, parking sensors, cruise control, auto climate control, wireless charging, and a multifunctional steering wheel.
It might house a digital instrument cluster, a head-up display, and a touchscreen infotainment system with support for the latest connectivity facilities.
Multiple airbags, ABS, a rear-view camera, and EBD should ensure the passengers’ safety.
