Thiruvananthapuram: In yet another tragic incident, Renowned playback singer Edwa Bashir passed away on Saturday. He was just 78 years old. According to the information received, he was doing a live concert, during which he fell on the stage. He had a severe chest pain. He was immediately taken to the hospital, but his life could not be saved.
It is being told that, Edwa Bashir was performing at the venue of Blue Diamond Orchestra’s Golden Jubilee celebrations. During this he was singing the Hindi song ‘Maane Ho Tum’. Suddenly he felt chest pain while singing and he fell on the stage. Let us tell you that Basheer, born in Edava, Thiruvananthapuram, sang many great songs.
This incident happened at 9.30 pm. He had arrived in this program as the chief guest. He sang Yesudas’ song – Mana Ho Tum Very Beautiful on stage. At the end of the song, he fell unconscious. Immediately this program was closed. The video of this incident is also going viral on social media.

Born in Edava, Thiruvananthapuram, Bashir sang many film songs, but was best known for his stage performances. He had an academic degree in music from Swathi Thirunal Sangeet Academy. In 1972, he formed the Kollam Sangeetalaya Ganmela Mandali.
Basheer became a household name for his popular numbers in the Malayalam film industry. He is recognised for the rendition of Azhithira Malakal Azhalinte Malakal which he crooned alongside Vani Jayaram for the movie Mukkuvane Snehicha Bootham.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Leader of Opposition V.D. Satheeshan condoled the passing away of Edava Basheer. Playback singer K S Chithra, too, paid tributes to the late singer.
