Renowned veteran Kannada film director SK Bhagawan, 89, passes away in Bengaluru

Veteran director of Kannada film industry SK Bhagavan passes away in Bengaluru at the age of 89. In December last year, he was admitted to the hospital due to ill health.

Bengaluru: Big blow to Kannada film industry, director SK Bhagwan passes away in Bengaluru. He was 89 years old and was suffering from age related ailments. In December last year, he was admitted to the hospital due to ill health.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai tweeted condoling the death of SK Bhagwan. In his tweet, he wrote, ‘I am very sad to hear the news of the death of SK Bhagwan, the famous director of Kannada film industry. I pray that God gives his family the strength to bear this pain.

The famous director Bhagwan was born on 5 July 1993. He did his studies in Bangalore. God was also known to add color to the drama. He also worked with Prabhakar Shastri as an assistant director. He worked as an assistant in the film ‘Bhagyodaya’, which was his first film. He got a chance to work as a director with the film ‘Sandhyaraga’ released in 1966. In the following years, the duo directed many films such as ‘Kasturi Nivasa,’ ‘Eradu Kanasu’, ‘Bayaludaari’, ‘Gaalimaatu’, ‘Chandanada Gombe’, ‘Hosa Belaku’, ‘Benkiya Bale’, ‘Jeevana Chaitra’, and more Bond-style films like ‘Goa Dalli C.I.D 999,’ Operation Jackpot Nalli C.I.D 999, and Operation Diamond Racke Together with Rajkumar, the team produced a number of films with Anant Nag and Lakshmi, the most of which were adapted from books. After Dorai Raj passed away, Bhagavan took a long break from directing; their last film together was ‘Baalondu Chaduranga’ in 1996. He made a comeback in 2019 with Aduva Gombe, the 50th movie he has directed, at the age of 85.
