In a shocking incident, a Spanish tourist on a motorcycle tour with her husband was allegedly gang-raped in Jharkhand’s Dumka district on Friday night. The couple, en route from Bangladesh to Nepal via Bihar, stopped at a deserted place in the Hansdiha area of Dumka, where the appalling assault took place. The attackers also reportedly beat the couple during the horrifying incident.

Richa Chadha Condemns the Incident

Bollywood actor Richa Chadha strongly condemned the incident, expressing her dismay on Instagram. She remarked, “Shameful! Indians are treating foreigners like they treat their own women. Shame on our rotten society.”

Arrests Made, Manhunt Underway

Authorities have taken swift action, with three individuals already arrested in connection with the case. A manhunt is underway to apprehend the remaining accused, as the police intensify efforts to bring all perpetrators to justice. A special investigation team (SIT) has been formed to thoroughly probe the incident.

Victim’s Harrowing Account

The Spanish woman, in an Instagram video message, detailed the harrowing incident, revealing that she was raped by seven men. Bruised and traumatized, she stated, “Something has happened to us that we would not wish on anyone. Seven men have raped me. They have beaten us and robbed us. Although not many things because what they wanted was to rape me.”

Medical Treatment and Examination

The victims, a 28-year-old woman and her 64-year-old husband, sought medical attention at Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital in Dumka. They covered a distance of about 60 km from Saraiyahat Community Health Centre with police escort. While both are out of danger, the woman’s medical examination will be conducted by a specialized medical board, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of the physical and psychological trauma endured.

Outpouring of International Concern

The actress, Richa Chadha, expressed her dismay at the treatment of foreigners, equating it to the treatment of Indian women. The incident has sparked international outrage, shedding light on the safety concerns faced by tourists, especially women, in certain regions.
