Actor Riteish Deshmukh has unveiled his next directorial venture, “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj,” where he will also portray the titular role. The announcement was made by Deshmukh himself on social media platforms, accompanied by the unveiling of the film’s poster.
In his Instagram post, Deshmukh pays homage to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, highlighting the historical figure’s enduring legacy as an icon of courage and inspiration. Deshmukh expresses his aspiration to immortalize Shivaji Maharaj’s remarkable journey on the cinematic canvas, depicting his rise from a defiant youth to a revered leader who ignited the flames of self-rule.
Deshmukh’s vision for the film encompasses an epic narrative that captures the essence of Shivaji Maharaj’s indomitable spirit and his unwavering commitment to justice and sovereignty. Describing Shivaji Maharaj as a rebel whose bravery knew no bounds, the actor-director aims to portray him not just as a ruler of land, but as a conqueror of hearts, earning the endearing title of ‘Raja Shivaji.’
Having made his debut as a producer in Marathi cinema and later venturing into acting and directing, Deshmukh has demonstrated versatility in his career. His previous directorial venture, “Ved,” was a blockbuster success in 2022, showcasing his prowess behind the camera.
Apart from “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj,” Deshmukh is set to appear in the sequel to “Raid,” starring alongside Ajay Devgn in the role of an antagonist. Directed by Rajkumar Gupta and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak, and Krishan Kumar, “Raid 2” is slated for release on November 15 this year.
