The incident took place at approximately 9:30 am at the Jagatpur branch of Axis Bank, located within the jurisdiction of the Kotwali police station in Raigarh, as stated by Raigarh Senior Superintendent of Police Sadanand Kumar.
Armed robbers targeted a private bank in Raigarh city, Chhattisgarh, on Tuesday morning, making off with cash and gold estimated to be worth around ₹8.5 crore after injuring the bank manager, according to police. The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 am at the Jagatpur branch of Axis Bank, located within the jurisdiction of the Kotwali police station.
Approximately six to seven robbers entered the bank and took bank employees hostage in a room. They attacked the bank manager, injuring his leg while demanding access to the locker room. The robbers fled the scene after looting the cash, gold ornaments, and bars. Following the alert, police arrived at the location, and the injured bank manager was rushed to a nearby hospital, where his condition is reported as stable.
According to the bank manager’s statement, the stolen loot includes ₹7 crore in cash and ₹1.5 crore worth of gold bars and ornaments. A case has been registered, and authorities are actively working to apprehend the robbers.
