In a move aimed at prioritizing emergency services, Gurugram has introduced a stringent fine of Rs 10,000 under Section 194E of the Motor Vehicle Act for those obstructing ambulances and fire trucks. The Gurugram Traffic Police has emphasized that this step is crucial to ensure unimpeded access for emergency vehicles.
Starting this week, the Gurugram Traffic Police will impose a hefty fine of Rs 10,000 on individuals who obstruct the passage of ambulances and fire trucks. To further reinforce this measure, the traffic police will utilize video recordings of the incidents to issue online challans promptly.
DCP (Traffic) Virender Vij highlighted the initiative, stating that those hindering the movement of emergency vehicles will receive online challans without any delay. These challans will be accompanied by video recordings, providing concrete evidence of the offense.
The fine, imposed under Section 194E of the Motor Vehicle Act, aims to discourage individuals from obstructing emergency vehicles. DCP Vij emphasized the importance of this measure in safeguarding the lives of those in critical condition being transported to hospitals in ambulances.
He also mentioned that Gurugram Traffic Police is already facilitating green corridors for ambulances carrying organs designated for transplant, thereby contributing to saving the lives of seriously ill patients.
