In a statement aimed at clarifying the stance of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), its chief, Mohan Bhagwat, emphasized the organization’s unwavering support for reservations for certain groups. Speaking at an event hosted by an educational institution in Hyderabad, Bhagwat reiterated that the Sangh Parivar has never been against the provision of reservations.
Bhagwat underscored the Sangh’s belief that reservations should persist for as long as they are deemed necessary to address social inequalities. His remarks come against the backdrop of escalating tensions between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress party regarding the issue of reservations.
The RSS chief’s comments echoed his previous statements made in Nagpur last year, where he asserted that reservations must continue until societal discrimination ceases to exist. Bhagwat had then highlighted the presence of pervasive but often imperceptible discrimination in society, emphasizing the ongoing need for affirmative action measures.
