Ukraine likes to boost its military position before talks with Russia
Ukraine wants to strengthen its positions on the ground with the help of new weapons deliveries from the West before it resumes peace talks with Russia, Ukrainian negotiator David Arakhamia said.”Our armed forces are ready to use (the new weapons)…and then I think we can initiate a new round of talks from a strengthened position,” he told Ukraine’s national television on Friday. Ukraine said it had recaptured a chunk of the industrial city of Sievierodonetsk in the Luhansk region, the focus of a Russian offensive to take the eastern Donbas region.
Russia claims to liberate many settlements from pro-Nazi forces
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov says “many settlements have been liberated from the pro-Nazi armed forces of Ukraine and directly from nationalist elements” in the 100 days since the invasion.
Ukraine pushes Russian forces in a number of areas.
The governor of Ukraine’s Luhansk region says Ukrainian forces are pushing Russian forces back in some places in the city.
Ukraine continues its resistance
The advance of Russian forces has been slowed by stiff Ukrainian resistance, repelling them from around the capital, Kyiv, and forcing Moscow to focus on capturing the east, including the Donbas. Some of the fiercest fighting has been centred on Severodonetsk, where Ukrainian troops are resisting a complete takeover.
Ukraine is on the receiving end. A huge number of people died in the Russian attack. Women are being raped and sexually assaulted by Russian troops. People are ready to flee the country in an attempt to save their lives. It is an unbelievable loss of property.
