The batting maestro will spend his 49th birthday with the Mumbai Indians (MI) in their team bio-bubble. However, the five-time champion team has been struggling in this edition of the IPL.

His father, Ramesh Tendulkar, was a noted writer. He was a fan of renowned musician Sachin Dev Burman. So he kept his son’s name, Sachin, who became a cricket legend later on.

Sachin made his debut against Pakistan in Karachi in 1989 as a teenager. He showed his class with a stupendous temperament and a willingness to score runs. In his maiden series, he handled the bowling of Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, and others with ease. That was the stamp of his greatness.

The batting great has plenty of records in his kitty. He represented India in 200 Test matches. In his illustrious career, Sachin scored 100 international hundreds. It is not wrong to call him modern cricket’s Don Bradman.

Tendulkar finished his career as the leading run-getter in international cricket, with 34,357 runs across all formats—15,921 in 200 Tests, 18426 in 463 ODIs and 10 in 1 T20 international.

His remarkable records are enough to make him one of the legends of any sport.

Tendulkar was the first player to hit a double hundred in ODIs when he made 200 not out off 147 balls against South Africa in Gwalior on February 24, 2010.

He represented India in six World Cups and was a member of the winning team in 2011 at the Wankhede stadium when India defeated Sri Lanka in the final.

Sachin played his last Test match–his 200th Test–at his home ground, the Wankhede stadium, in November 2013 against West Indies.

He represented the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. In 78 matches, the batting maestro scored 2334 runs with the help of one century and 13 fifties.

Sachin Tendulkar was a handy bowler as well, known for breaking partnerships at the crucial juncture. He played an important role in several matches as a bowler. He was a cricket magician. There is no doubt about it
