Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav announced on Thursday that he is set to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from the Kannauj constituency. The general election is far away, then why did he make an announcement about his constituencies so early?

Speaking to reporters, the SP supremo said, “What is my joy if I am sitting idle?” I will contest the elections, as our job is to fight the elections.

Akhilesh Yadav further added that he had contested for the first time from Kannauj, so he had decided to go back to his old constituency in the 2024 general elections, adding that it would be the final decision taken by the party regarding his election constituency in 2024.

Currently, Akhilesh and his lieutenants are making strategy for the upcoming by-election for the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat, which will be held on December 5, and the results will be declared on December 8.

The Congress and BSP are not fielding their candidates in honour of the departed leader, Mulayam Singh Yadav.
