Mumbai: Akshay Kumar’s much hyped movie, Samrat Prithviraj, was released on June 3 after several delays in a couple of languages. In this movie, 2017 Miss World Manushi Chhillar is making her debut in Bollywood. She played the role of Prithviraj’s beloved Sanyogita, but failed to attract the audience and didn’t get many reviews.
However, Samrat Prithviraj has to compete with two South Indian films (Vikram and Major) at the box office. Aksha’s movie is likely to collect approximately Rs 10 crore on its opening day. The film has not been able to leave its mark on cineviewers. The film got most of its collections from UP, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh. The state governments of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttarakhand declared tax-free.
Prithviraj failed to entice viewers in Maharashtra and some South Indian states.
Kamal Haasan’s Vikram has been performing well, which might soon enter the Rs 100 crore club in Tamil Nadu itself.
Speaking regarding the film, the actor said, “It shows my love for the country, enables me to tell a story that is related to Indian history and folklore, and is also a film for every section of society.”
