New Delhi: Former India captain and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has been planning to be Head of Cricket (Director) of Indian Premier League franchise Delhi Capitals.
If he joins the Delhi Capitals, then it would be his first assignment in professional cricket after becoming BCCI president.
Earlier, Ganguly was attached to DD as its advisor in the IPL 2019 season, when Ricky Ponting was the coach of the Delhi Capitals.
Ganguly was removed as BCCI president for some unknown reasons. His place was taken by former World Cup-winning all-rounder Roger Binny in October 2022.
Ganguly had a cordial working relationship with Delhi Capitals. The moment he lost the post of BCCI president, he said that nothing is permanent.
“These were great moments.” “Whatever you do in life, I keep telling everyone, the best days were when you played for your country.” “I have seen so much since then; I have been president of the CAB and president of the BCCI, and I am ready to do bigger things in the future, but those 15-year stints with the national team were the most enjoyable days of my life,” Ganguly had said.
Ganguly was asked to take the charge as IPL chairman, but he denied it, adding he wouldn’t want to lead a sub-committee of the board after remaining the president of the world’s richest body (BCCI) for over 3 years.
