New Delhi: The Supreme Court has rejected the petition of the Hindu Sena president. Explain that the President of the Hindu Sena had filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding a ban on the BBC and BBC India for telecasting a documentary based on the Prime Minister’s alleged role in the Gujarat riots.
The petition alleged that BBC and BBC India were trying to disrupt peace and integrity in India. In fact, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) aired a documentary on Prime Minister Modi in the 2002 Gujarat riots. Which was banned by the central government considering it misleading.
A petition was filed in the Supreme Court against this ban. On this, Hindu Sena President Vishnu Gupta and Birendra Kumar Singh filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding a ban on the operation of BBC in India.
Filed through Advocate Barun Kumar Sinha, the petition sought that the court direct the National Investigation Agency to investigate the journalist for making anti-India and anti-India reporting/documentary.
The petition accused the BBC of running its own agenda and claimed that the BBC was disrupting peace and national integration prevailing in India. However, during the hearing of the petition, the court said that it was completely wrong and dismissed the petition.
Let us tell you that the BBC documentary India: The Modi Question is based on the 2002 Gujarat riots. Which was banned from showing in India by the Central Government using the emergency powers received under the Information Technology Rules 2022. There was a lot of uproar about this and the opposition tried to corner the government on this issue. The documentary was shown publicly in several universities to protest against the government’s decision.
