Second-year UP student dies after rape; accused tells police about taking energy-boosting tablets

Police arrested a 25-year-old man, identified as Gautam, on Sunday for brutally raping a college student in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao district; she could not succumb to the injury and died.

Lucknow: Police arrested a 25-year-old man, identified as Gautam, on Sunday for brutally raping a college student in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district; she could not succumb to the injury and died. The culprit told the police that he found the victim alone at her home, took advantage of her loneliness, and allegedly raped her. He also acknowledged that he took two energy-enhancing tablets before raping the girl.

The victim was a second-year college student; her sister found her unconscious in the courtyard, and blood was discharging from her private parts when she returned home. The family informed the cops regarding the matter and took the victim to the nearby hospital immediately, but the doctors declared her dead. The postmortem report confirmed that death took place because of too much bleeding from the girls’ private parts due to shock and hemorrhage,

As per the police, Gautam raped her continuously because she was taking the energy-boosting pills. Despite her resistance, he did not let her leave. The moment the accuser saw excessive bleeding from her private parts, he was frightened and left her.

Police have revealed a chat between the accused and the victim, in which he talks about coming to the house and she refuses.

Superintendent of Police Siddhartha Shankar said that the victim’s father had initially alleged that a 28-year-old neighbour and a 65-year-old woman were involved in the incident. The police had booked them on the basis of their claim. However, Gautam accepted his crime and was nabbed; the two neighbours were reportedly given a clean chit.

The victim’s parents told police that she was focusing on her studies and wanted to crack the civil service exam to become an IAS officer. The father further added that he had taken a loan of Rs 1 lakh from a bank for her smooth studies.
