For the upcoming celebrations of Dhanteras and Diwali in the state, senior police officials in Uttar Pradesh have disclosed the deployment of a substantial security force. A total of 246 companies, comprising the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), UP Special Security Force (UPSSF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) agencies, along with 400 trainee sub-inspectors, have been strategically positioned, as announced on Friday .
In an official statement shared with the media, Special Director General of UP Police for Law and Order, Prashant Kumar,highlighted the comprehensive security measures in place. Security deployments have been arranged at 11,500 locations across the state where idols have been installed. Extensive inspections, assisted by sniffer dogs and bomb disposal squads, were conducted at approximately 25,000 fireworks shops and warehouses. Moreover, 4,800 police response vehicles (PRV) from the UP Police Integrated Emergency Response Centre have been deployed at markets and crowded areas .
For the Deepotsav event in Ayodhya on Saturday, three Superintendent of Police-rank officers, eight additional SPs, 23 deputy SPs, Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) commandos, bomb disposal squads, and anti-drone teams have been deployed in the city, according to Kumar.
To ensure a peaceful and trouble-free Diwali, preparations have been underway for several days. This includes 1,769 meetings held with trader associations and market organizations. CCTV cameras have been strategically placed to monitor suspicious activities in markets, and drones are being utilized in certain cities for aerial surveillance. Regular flag marches and route marches are being conducted in market areas, and police teams are engaged in foot patrolling in crowded areas, as part of the overall security measures.
