Jagannath Rath Yatra 2023: Before the annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, the Odisha Police Administration has banned the flying of drones in Puri city and especially on Grand Road. Strict security arrangements have been made in view of the annual Rath Yatra to be taken out on June 20. The police administration has issued an advisory keeping in mind the safety of the chariots of deities and the devotees at Sri Jagannath Temple, Sri Gundicha Temple. This ban will be effective till July 1 and legal action will be taken against those who do not follow it.
According to a senior Puri police officer, the use of uncontrolled drones by inexperienced people poses a threat to the safety of devotees. The police had earlier also taken legal action against some people for violating the rules.
It has been said in the advisory that since Shri Jagannath Temple has been declared as Red Zone under the provisions of Drone Rules 2021. That’s why no one is allowed to fly gadgets in the temple premises. No operator will be able to fly a drone without the Unique Identification Number (UIN) issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
According to the order, the drone operators will be responsible for any incident like damage to any property or injury to anyone. It states, “Any violation of drone rules is punishable. Puri police had earlier arrested a YouTuber for violating the provisions of flying a drone.
