Pandit Kesharinath Tripathi, former Governor of Bengal and senior BJP leader, ex-Assembly Speaker, passed away at 5am today in UP. He was 88 years old. A few days back, he was admitted to the hospital after complaining of shortness of breath.

He was discharged from the hospital after his health improved. Relatives had taken him home. Expressing condolences on the death of Keshari Nath Tripathi, all the big leaders of the BJP, including the Chief Minister of the state Yogi Adityanath, have expressed condolences to the family. Pandit Kesari Nath Tripathi is survived by son Additional Advocate General Neeraj Tripathi and two daughters.
Expressing condolences to the bereaved family, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wrote through the micro-blogging site Twitter that the death of senior politician, senior member of BJP family and former Governor of West Bengal respected Keshari Nath Tripathi is extremely sad. May Lord Shri Ram give place to the departed pious soul in his holy feet and give strength to the bereaved family members to bear the sorrow.
Pandit Kesrinath Tripathi was born on 10 November 1934. He was counted among the senior leaders of BJP. Along with being a senior advocate of the Allahabad High Court, he also held the post of Speaker of the UP Legislative Assembly for many years. He was the Speaker of the UP Legislative Assembly thrice. Apart from this, he has also been the president of the Uttar Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Pandit Kesrinath Tripathi was the Governor of West Bengal from 2014 to 2019, during which he was also given the additional charge of the states of Bihar, Meghalaya and Mizoram.
