Tamil Nadu IPS DIG Suicide: Senior IPS officer of Coimbatore Range DIG C Vijay Kumar has committed suicide. He shot himself with his service revolver, after which he died on the spot. At present, the reasons could not be known. Vijay Kumar was a senior IPS officer of 2009 batch.
Coimbatore: Senior IPS officer DIG C Vijayakumar of Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore Range has committed suicide. He shot himself with his service revolver, killing him on the spot. The reason why the IPS officer shot himself is yet to be ascertained. Vijayakumar was a senior IPS officer of 2009 batch (2009 Batch IPS Officer). He has also served as the Superintendent of Police. The body was sent to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for postmortem. Further investigation is going on.
According to sources, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Coimbatore Range, C Vijayakumar shot himself with a service pistol at his camp office at Race Course on Friday morning. Due to this he died on the spot.
It is said that Vijayakumar went out for a walk in the morning and reached his camp office at around 6.45 am. He asked his personal security officer (PSO) to hand over his pistol and he took it and came out of the office. He shot himself at around 6.50 am. Other policemen on duty at the camp office informed senior police officers who immediately reached the spot.
Sources say that DIG Vijayakumar had told his fellow officers that he has not been able to sleep properly for a few weeks and is in severe depression. Police said that the reason for the suicide has not been ascertained yet and it is being investigated.
Let us tell that on January 6, 2023, C Vijayakumar took charge as Deputy Inspector General of Police of Coimbatore Range. He replaced MS Muthusamy, who was transferred as Deputy Inspector General of Vellore range.
