Dubai: India has been playing some breath-taking cricket in ODIs, which helped the men in blue occupy the third spot in the latest ICC ODI Team Rankings. India improved its position after the series victory against England in their backyard.
Rishabh Pant’s heroic innings of 125 in 113 balls, incidentally his maiden ODI ton, and Hardik Pandya’s superb all-round performance helped Team India defeat the hosts by five wickets and clinch the series 2-1.
Currently, India has 109 points and is three rating points ahead of Pakistan (106) in the list.
With 128 and 121 points, respectively, New Zealand and England are in first and second position in the ODI rankings.
However, the calculation of the points table may change in the coming weeks. South Africa is currently ranked sixth, and the Proteas could move up to fourth place if they sweep their upcoming three-match series against England.
India has a golden opportunity to improve its position even further if it beats the West Indies in their upcoming three-match series on Caribbean soil.
Pakistan’s next outing is against the Netherlands next month in Rotterdam, where they have to play three 50-over games during a five-day period.
