Kolkata: As many as four Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers were detained at Panagarh Railway Station in the West Burdwan district of West Bengal while a huge number of BJP workers were marching to the West Bengal secretariat.
The march is being organised in retaliation for the corrupt practices of the TMC government.
At Panagarh station, the four BJP workers were arrested prior to boarding the train. BJP workers have alleged that the police are solely detaining BJP workers and supporters after entering each train station.
As hundreds of BJP workers travel by train to Kolkata to participate in the party’s ‘Nabanna March’, the state police have barricaded the way to the railway stations.
BJP leader Abhijit Dutta said that police had stopped 20 of the party leaders near Durgapur railway station. I reached here from different paths, “Dutta said.”
Meanwhile, the BJP has reserved seven trains with the aim of bringing its party workers and supporters from different parts of West Bengal to join the ‘Nabanna Abhijan’ (march to the secretariat) on September 13.
Bengal police took all the precautionary measures on Monday night at the West Bengal-Jharkhand border check post at Dubordi, under the Kulti police station of Asansol Durgapur Police Commissionerate, to stop any kind of disturbance.
