Delhi Weather Update: IMD predicted that cold wave and cold day conditions are likely to continue over northwest India during the next two days.
New Delhi: The entire North West India including the country’s capital Delhi is in the grip of dense fog and severe cold. A thick blanket of fog enveloped North India including Delhi this morning. The movement of trains is being affected due to fog. Cold wave is going on in the plains including Delhi and the cold is troubling the people a lot. Due to the fog, visibility is being recorded less than 200 meters at many places. At the same time, the India Meteorological Department has issued an alert for Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

According to the weather agency, a cold day to a severe cold day is predicted in Punjab, Haryana, and UP, while a severe cold wave is predicted in Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh. Meanwhile, several schools across states have extended their holidays in view of the weather conditions.
The weather office had Saturday predicted that cold day conditions are likely to continue over northwest India for the next two days.
The dense fog conditions come amid a cold wave in the capital and other parts of north India. Delhi yesterday recorded a temperature of 1.9 degrees Celsius — the second-lowest in the last decade.
The IMD recorded ‘zero’ visibility in Punjab’s Bathinda at 11.30 pm on Sunday. Areas like Ambala, Hisar, Bahraich and Gaya also witnessed fog and visibility dropped to 50 metres. According to the data, Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh recorded 100 metres, while Palam recorded 400 metres.
According to the Ministry of Railways, hundreds of trains were either canceled or delayed on Sunday due to dense fog in North India. According to a Railway Ministry statement, 335 trains were delayed due to bad weather while 88 trains had to be cancelled.
