Mumbai: Ranbir Kapoor is eagerly awaiting the release of his forthcoming film, Brahmastra. The Ayan Mukerji film is set to hit the silver screens on September 9. Although Brahmastra is expected to transform Ranbir’s career, his last film, Shamshera, proved a disaster at the box office. Brahmastra will be released on over 300 screens in Australia.
Ranbir Kapoor responded to a question regarding Shamshera’s failure during a Brahmastra promotional event in Delhi Ranbir Kapoor said, “If Shamshera failed to perform well at the box office, it means the audience didn’t enjoy the film. The film failed to perform because of the poor content.
Ranbir Kapoor’s character is opposed to Sanjay Dutt’s character in the storyline of Shamshera The latter portrays Shuddh Singh, an evil, merciless, and heartless character.
Shamshera, a flop story
The film is set in the 1800s fictitious city of Kaza, where a warrior tribe is imprisoned, sold into slavery, and subjected to torture by a brutal authoritarian general, Shuddh Singh. The main character of the story is a slave who rises to a leadership position before becoming legendary within his community. He never stops fighting for independence and the honour and dignity of his tribe. Ronit Roy, Saurabh Shukla, and Ashutosh Rana all play significant roles in Shamshera.
