Shefali Shah, Best Actress Nominee, Leaves International Emmys 2023 Without a Win

Karla Souza secured the prestigious International Emmy Award for her outstanding portrayal in ‘La Cada [Dive]’. Shefali Shah, representing India with her role in ‘Delhi Crime: Season 2’, was among the nominees but did not clinch the award. Shefali Shah adorned a red saree with gold details for the significant event.

Other nominees in the esteemed category included Connie Nielsen from Denmark and Billie Piper from the UK.

Karla Souza emerged victorious in the Best Performance by an Actress category at the International Emmy Awards 2023, triumphing over contenders such as Connie Nielsen from Denmark, Billie Piper from the UK, and Shefali Shah from India.

The official X (formerly Twitter) of International Emmy Awards 2023 announced Karla Souza’s win, stating, “The International Emmy for Best Performance by an Actress goes to Karla Souza in La Cada [Dive],” produced by Madam / Filmadora / Infinity Hill / Amazon.”

Shefali Shah received a nomination for her compelling performance as DCP Vartika Chaturvedi in the second installment of the Netflix series, ‘Delhi Crime.’ Notably, ‘Delhi Crime Season 1’ secured the Best Drama Series at the International Emmys in 2020. Alongside Shefali Shah, Jim Sarbh (for Rocket Boys Season 2) and Vir Das (for his Netflix special, ‘Landing’) were also nominated for the prestigious International Emmy awards this year.

In an interview with India Today, Shefali Shah revealed her ‘obsessive’ approach to her work and expressed her protectiveness towards the character of Vartika.

Describing her character in ‘Delhi Crime Season 2,’ the review on IndiaToday.in praised the portrayal of realistic cops like Vartika, Neeti, and Bhupender.

The review emphasized the refreshing depiction of sincerity, strengths, and weaknesses in the world of female cops, distinguishing it from the larger-than-life portrayals seen in other cop franchises.
