Rajya Sabha MP and Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut's judicial custody has been extended till September 19 by a special court in Mumbai.
Mumbai: Rajya Sabha MP and Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut’s judicial custody has been extended till September 19 by a special court in Mumbai. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested him in the Patra Chawl money laundering case.
Sanjay Raut’s lawyer, on Monday informed the court that no bail application has yet been filed.
The ED recently filed a plea seeking an extension of judicial custody.
Sanjay Raut has been given permission by the court to sign some documents from Parliament and deliver a copy of the same to the court and the ED.
The family of Sanjay Raut was present at the court today. Many of his supporters also arrived at the court.
The ED arrested Sanjay Raut on August 1 after quizzing him for over six hours in the Rs 1,034-crore Patra Chawl land scam case.
The investigative officer said in the arrest memo that “on the basis of the material which I possess, I think that Sanjay Rajaram Raut has been guilty of an offence punishable under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.”
