TMC issued a show-cause notice to West Bengal minister Srikanta Mahata a day after calling out various party MLAs and MPs in the entertainment industry, as looters.
Kolkata: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) issued a show-cause notice to West Bengal minister Srikanta Mahata a day after calling out various TMC MLAs and MPs in the entertainment industry, including Mimi Chakraborty and Nusrat Jahan, as looters.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, the MLA of Salboni in Paschim Medinipur district alleged that leaders like Mimi Chakraborty, Nusrat Jahan, June Malia, Saayoni Ghosh, and Sayantika Banerjee had turned into looters while the party’s top brass neglected honest workers.
Ajit Maity, the TMC’s Paschim Medinipur co-ordinator, claimed on Sunday that Mahata was show-caused for his remark that “harmed the party’s image
According to Maity, in his reply to the show-cause notice, Mahata regretted making that statement and said it was an “emotional outburst.”
“Earlier, we attempted to explain to Abhishek Banerjee and Subrata Bakshi. However, they were unwilling to understand. They are classifying bad people as nice people. Then how can we survive? They should say bad people are bad people.
“If there are instances of looting of money, it is advised for a minister to spend time in prison. If not, they would accuse us all of being looters and raise their fingers towards us.” “Aren’t all of us facing similar taunts?” the minister said.
According to state spokesperson Kunal Ghosh, TMC doesn’t agree with his ideas.
Mahata has stated the reality that the TMC is a party of looters, as per the BJP state president, Sukanta Majumdar.
Majumdar further said, “Srikanta should come forward and explain what he meant by saying that these MLAs and MPs from the showbiz industry are on a looting spree.
Mahata was not available for comment.
