Murder accused is demanding books
Earlier on January 10, Delhi’s Saket Court extended the judicial custody of Aftab Poonawalla, accused in the Shraddha Walkar murder case, for the next 14 days. On the other hand, Aftab Poonawala has demanded some law books for studies. The court also directed the authorities to provide warm clothes to Aftab.

Aftab Poonawalla was accused of strangulating Shraddha Walkar, who was in a ‘live-in relationship’ with him, on May 18, 2022, cutting her body into 35 pieces and keeping them at a residence in Mehrauli, South Delhi for three weeks. There is an allegation of keeping liters in the refrigerator and throwing them in different parts of the city for several days. The case of Walker’s murder came to light when the Delhi Police arrested Poonawala on 12 November 2022 on the complaint of Shraddha Walker’s father.

Aaftab has been in judicial custody since November 26. Delhi police are likely to file a chargesheet in the case later this month. Aaftab, sources say, had earlier told a Delhi court that he had killed his partner Shraddha Walkar “in the heat of the moment”.
